Kochur loti is the elongated, segmented stem (stolon) of the taro plant. 

It is a popular ingredient in Bengali and other South Asian cuisines, often cooked in curries with seasonings and shrimp. The dish requires special preparation, such as washing thoroughly and adding lemon juice, to remove irritating calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause a tingling or itching sensation.
